The highly-anticipated middleweight fight between Leonardo Mesquita and Leonardo Santos took place at Spartacus Fight Event 33 on March 18th, 2023 at the Spartacus Arena in São Paulo, Brazil.
The main event was the fight between Mesquita and Santos. The contestants are squaring off for the Weight Class GP 84 Middleweight Championship.
On one corner, we had Leonardo Mesquita aka ‘The Lion’. The 24 year old from Guaruja is a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner with a right-handed rack and an arm span of 191 cm.
The Lion, an Insanis MMA fighter with a 3-0 record, was participating in the promotion for the third time.
Fighting the Lion is 23 year old Leonardo Santos or ‘Orelha’ from Rio De Janeiro and the Team Lourenco. Orelha is a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner with a right-handed rack as well and has an arm span of 182.
Orelha fought with Spartacus MMA for the first time.
Leonardo Mesquita defeated Leonardo Santos in Round 1 at 2:25 via TKO.

Welterweight
Lucas Silva, also known as “Bolacha,” and Christian Barbosa, also known as “Chris,” competed for the Spartacus MMA promotion’s Welterweight title in the weight class GP 77 .
Christian Barbosa, or “Chris,” is a right-handed Muay Thai fighter from São Paulo who is 30 years old. His arm span is 192 cm. He fought for the promotion for the first time.
Fighting Chris was Lucas Silva, or “Bolacha,” a Muay Thai fighter from Rio de Janeiro who is 19 years old and a member of the group Black Sheep.
Bolacha is right-handed and has an 182 cm arm span. This welterweight clash with Chris is Bolacha’s first fight with the promotion.
Barbosa defeated Bolacha in Round 1 at 0:23 via submission.
Lightweight
For the Spartacus MMA Lightweight title, Kaleb Sousa, popularly known as “O Beast,” faced Nicholas Tonus, better known as “The Juggernaut,” in the weight class GP 66.
Kaleb Sousa defeated Nicholas Tonus after three rounds through Unanimous Decision.
Sousa, who has a 0-1 record, fought in this promotion for the second time. The 20-year-old Sousa is a member of Team Octogona and is from São Paulo. With a 170 cm arm span and a right-handed rack, Sousa practises Muay Thai.
Nicholas Tonus, an 18-year-old fighter from Taubate and the Team VTT, challenged Sousa for the Lightweight title.
The 18-year-old, a Muay Thai practitioner with a right handed rack and an arm reach of 181 cm, also fought for the first time with Spartacus MMA.
Lightweight
For the Lightweight title in the weight class of GP 70, it was Lucas Dias or ‘Garetto’ Vs Jorge Ibanez also known as ‘Batman’.
Lucas Dias, a 24-year-old boxer from Rio De Janeiro is from the team PRVT and this was his debut match in Spartacus MMA. Dias has a record of 4-6, with an arm span of 176 cm and a right-handed rack.
Lucas’s opponent was Jorge Ibanez, a 27-year-old Muay-Thai practitioner from São Paulo and the Team Corinthians. This was Ibanez’s first fight with the promotion who has an arm span of 160 cm.
Jorge Ibanez defeated Lucas Diaz I’m Round 2 of their battle at 1:08 via submission.
Middleweight
Lucas Fernandes and Leandro Parpinelli fought for the Middleweight title in the weight class of GP 77.
Lucas Fernandes is a 24-year-old Muay-Thai practitioner with a right handed rack from the team Chute Box. He hails from São Paulo and has an arm span of 180 cm.
Leandro Parpinelli, 23, on the other hand is also a Muay-Thai practitioner with a right handed rack. He belongs to the team Thai Unit and comes from São Paulo as well.
Parpinelli has a record of 1-0 and an arm span of 233 cm.
This was the debut match in Spartacus MMA for both of the fighters.
Lucas Fernandes defeated Leandro Parpinelli in Round 1 at 2:22 via TKO.

- Tiago Almeida defeated Luis Gustavo for the Lightweight title in the weight class GP 70 in Round 3 of the fight at 2:26 via TKO.
- Guilherme Oliveira defeated Lucas Mateus for the Bantamweight title in the weight class of GP 57 in Round 1 at 1:35 through submission.
- Francisco Silva defeated Higor Freitas for the Flyweight title in the weight class of GP 57 in Round 2 at 2:33 through TKO.
